Eat and be merry

Eat and be merry

ON HAND: Chef Kamini Pather

You're spoilt for choice with food and comedy festivals this weekend.

The sun is shining, the weekend’s here and it’s time to have some fun, mense.

If you’re hungry for some Food Fair action then get down to Melomed Hospital in Tokai (cnr Main Road and Keysers Road) on Saturday morning.

There are cook-off demonstrations for parents and kids to get involved in or you can just browse the food stalls at the festival.

MasterChef winner Kamini Pather will also be there sharing tips and tricks.

She’s a food writer and TV host so there is no one better to show you around a food fair.

There’ll be loads of entertainment on offer and of course face painting for the kiddies.

Entry to the Food Fair Festival is R5.

SHOW: Schalk Bezuidenhout returns to Baxter Theatre

This weekend Schalk Bezuidenhout is back at the Baxter Theatre fresh from a trip to the UK.

Schalk was part of a group of comedians that travelled to London as part of the Cape Town Funny Festival.

The show is called Second Language and showcases the comedian’s Afrikaans roots, his conservative upbringing in Johannesburg and funny things about the language and his interactions with it.

He says on his Facebook page: “Tickets are selling faster than tamagotchis in 1999.”

The show starts at 8pm tonight and on Saturday, tickets are R100 and available from Computicket.
