A one-year-old baby boy who was missing for a day is now in the care of social workers after his parents were allegedly found to be in a “drunken state”.
It’s not clear whether criminal charges will be brought against the parents of little Sinovuyo Gura.
The infant went missing on Sunday while playing outside his home in Gousblom Street, Dunoon.
The child was dressed in blue tracksuit pants, green top and navy shoes when he disappeared.
Dessie Rechner of the Pink Ladies confirms the parents were three kilometres away from their home and a family friend took the child to keep him safe.
She says the parents were allegedly in a drunken state when they were found 24 hours later.
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Andre Traut, says the matter has been handed over to social workers: “The investigation was taken over by [the Department of] Social Development.
“After completion of their investigation, a decision will be made if any criminal charges will be brought against the parents of the child in question.”
