Traffic was brought to an abrupt on halt on Tuesday morning after three MyCiTi busses collided at the corners of Heerengracht and Hertzog Boulevard in Cape Town CBD.
ER24 paramedics, along with various other services, responded to the scene and treated 37 passengers ( previously reported as 26) who sustained minor to moderate injuries.
No serious or fatal injuries were reported.
ER24 in statement on Tuesday morning said: “26 people have been injured this morning after three busses collided… ER24 paramedics, along with various other services, responded to the scene after receiving reports…
"Upon arrival, paramedics found the three busses parked on the side of the road with the occupants spread across the scene.
"A triage area was set up to assess and treat the patients. Upon assessment, paramedics discovered that 26 people had sustained minor to moderate injuries.”
A Golden Arrow tow truck was dispatched to remove the damaged busses from the Civic Centre bus station.
The cause of the accident is still unknown and is currently under investigation.
