Convicted murderer and rapist Bradley Noble will hear his fate soon.
Noble was found guilty of the rape and murder of 16-year-old Michaela Adriaanse in the Western Cape High Court on Tuesday.
The 36-year-old Manenberg man was accused of murdering Grade 9 learner Michaela, by smashing a rock against her head.
The teen was reported missing in March last year after she and her friends bunked school and went to Kalk Bay beach where they smoked dagga and drank whiskey.
The state and defence concluded their sentencing proceedings yesterday and Acting Judge Yolande Renqe is expected to hand down sentencing on Friday morning.
On Tuesday, Judge Renqe dismissed Noble’s version of events as untrue and unconvincing.
She said he was not a credible witness and that his evidence was filled with discrepancies.
“The accused killed the deceased in order to avoid being identified as the person who raped her,” she said.
Michaela’s family sobbed in the gallery after the guilty verdict was announced.
Her father, Sean Adriaanse, 52, said it’s been a difficult few months for him and his family.
“It was hard sitting there and listening to all the things that happened to my daughter towards the end,” he said.
“I feel relieved and happy that he was found guilty,” he said
