DJ Black Coffee has been slapped with an assault charge.
Coffee was captured on video klapping the cap of rival rapper AKA’s road manager Tshiamo Letshwene, at the DStv iRock Festival in Limpopo over the weekend.
Letshwene has reportedly laid a charge of assault at the Sandton police station which will be transferred to Polokwane, according to website Z’khiphani.
They were apparently quarreling over who should go on stage because AKA was running late.
But Letshwene’s boss, Vth Season Managing Director Raphael Benza, said this was not true.
“AKA was not late for his performance … as media and event goers have reported. Three weeks ago we requested a performance time change for AKA to which the event organisers agreed and confirmed.”
However, Sowetan LIVE reports that iRock founder and president Rito Hlungwani denied this, and said AKA and his management “misrepresented” the contract and the schedule by ignoring their time slots.
Black Coffee went on stage after the klap and took a minute to apologise.
