Deadly gun game

VICTIM: Gershwin, 20

A 17-year-old boy allegedly shot and killed his friend while playing with a gun.

This young man died after he was allegedly shot in his stomach by his 17-year-old friend who was playing with a gun.

Police are still looking for 20-year-old Gershwin Jacobs’ friend, who eyewitnesses say ran off after the shooting on Monday night.

It’s alleged the teen was spotted with a gun in the area on Saturday.

The deceased’s aunt, Paulina Jacobs, 66, explains: “One of his friends’ girlfriends came to tell us he was shot at a house in Eyeberry Street so we went there.

“When we got to the house, he was on a bed in the living room.

“He was still awake so I told him to stay with us and he just shook his head.

“Shortly after the ambulance arrived, he was dead but they didn’t even tell us.”

Paulina says the teen, whose identity is known to the Daily Voice, was not at the house.

“The one who shot him wasn’t there; it was only his one friend who he always spent time with who was with him,” she adds.

“I heard one of the girls tell police that Gershwin told (the teen) not to play with the gun in case it goes off. Toe het dit hoekal gebeur.

“Gershwin was not a gangster, but I can’t speak for his friends.”

Constable Noloyiso Rwexana says the suspect is still on the run.

“A case of murder is under investigation,” she says.
