Two men trying to do a dagga deal at a Cape shopping centre have been caught red-handed, leading cops to a marijuana drying operation.
The suspects, both aged 31, have been arrested and are expected to appear in the Goodwood Magistrates’ Court today.
The duo are set to face charges of the cultivation of dagga.
Constable Noloyiso Rwexana says Brackenfell cops followed up on information regarding an alleged drug deal at a service station at a shopping centre in Kraaifontein last week.
She says: “When they arrived at the location, they found two men inside a vehicle.
“When they searched the vehicle, they found a small quantity of dagga inside the vehicle.”
Rwexana says the suspects were questioned and it was discovered that there was more dagga at the residence of one of the suspects, in Richwood.
“A search was conducted at the address and a large amount of dried dagga, various dagga plants growing in containers as well as dried dagga plant stems and equipment used for cultivating dagga were seized.”
Rwexana would not speculate what the dagga was worth.
“The dagga is worth a substantial amount,” was all she’d say.”
