Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal told reporters “it’s over” as reports swirl that Jose Mourinho is set to replace him.
Reports in England and Spain claim that the Dutchman’s last act as Old Trafford boss was lifting the FA Cup on Saturday.
Van Gaal will reportedly be sacked by the club this week with the Special One set to take over on a three-year £36m deal, even though United are still to confirm the reports.
The Dutchman also dropped the biggest hint of his impending exit when he left a meeting with club owners the Glazers at a London hotel yesterday.
A SkySports reporter asked him about his future, but all the coach said was: “No, no, no. It’s over.”
Sky sources say Mourinho’s agent Jorge Mendes will fly to the UK from China tomorrow to finalise a deal.
