Three cops were busted by the Western Cape Anti-Corruption unit this week.
The officers, stationed at the Langa police station, have been charged with theft, kidnapping and assault common in the Strand Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
On September 16, the trio in uniform and an unidentified person in civilian clothes entered a house in Lwandle demanding to search a house for an illegal gun.
Constable Noloyiso Rwexana says: “The complainant asked for a search warrant which could not be produced. It is alleged that during this search an undisclosed amount of money was taken by the police officers and when questioned about their actions, the complainant was placed in a police van and taken to Langa.
“He was never arrested and later dropped off in Lwandle, where he approached police with his complaint.”
The fourth suspect is yet to be arrested.
