Button smokers have been dealt a massive klap by cops.

Police spokesperson Constable Noloyiso Rwexana says cops swooped on a bakkie making its way to the Mother City, loaded with mandrax worth R10million.

A 50-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the massive haul.

In a statement, Rwexana says: “A search operation conducted by Beaufort West police yielded a massive haul of mandrax tablets worth R10million in the early hours of Sunday morning.

“The seizure of 200 000 mandrax tablets that were transported in a bakkie from Johannesburg to Cape Town led to the arrest of a male, 50.

“He will appear in the Beaufort West Magistrates’ Court on Monday.”

Rwexana says top cops have commended the Beaufort West police for the good work.

“The seizure and arrest are believed to have dealt a major dent to the drug trade,” Rwexana says.

“We will continue with our efforts to rid the communities of drugs that destroy the nation.”
