A 47-year-old warrant officer is behind bars after he allegedly raped a 15-year-old girl at a police station.
Independent Police Investigations Directorate spokesperson Robbie Raburabu confirmed that they are investigating the incident which allegedly happened inside the trauma room at Montague SAPS a week ago.
The girl’s mother reportedly called cops to take her daughter away for a few hours after the teen went on a rampage at home.
“The police were called by the girl’s family on Tuesday, 30 August, to take her to the police station to cool off after an altercation at home,” explains Raburabu.
“While she was in the trauma room, the 47-year-old warrant officer allegedly raped her.
“The girl revealed her ordeal to her parents the next day and the cop was arrested.
“The police member was arrested on 2 September.”
Warrant officer Frederick Soldaat appeared in Ashton Magistrates’ Court on Monday where his case was postponed for one week.
Soldaat will remain in jail until his formal bail application on Monday.
In a similar incident in January, a 19-year-old girl claimed two cops raped her after her mom called cops when she smashed windows at their home in Caledon.
She said the officers dropped her off close to home afterwards.
According to Raburabu, no arrests have been made in this incident yet.
“The DNA evidence which was gathered was inconclusive. The further challenge is that the victim does not remember much of the incident as she was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident,” he says.
