Cape Town Central detective bust after investigation into suspect claims.

Cops have arrested one of their own after he allegedly defrauded police informers out of money.

Members of the Police’s Anti-Corruption Unit arrested a 32-year-old Detective Constable stationed at Cape Town Central on Thursday.

Constable Noloyiso Rwexana said the man defrauded informers by submitting claims for them and the cash never reached them.

She added that a case of fraud was opened and an investigation revealed the man submitted several claims between 2013 and 2015 and the signatures of the recipients were different from the claimants’ signatures on their forms.

He appeared in court yesterday on fraud charges.
