Another cop has been arrested in the police’s Operation Elephant.
The policeman was busted at his workplace at Strand police station on Friday, on the same day that two other cops, also based at the station, appeared in court.
Police spokesman Lieutenant Colonel André Traut says a total of six policemen have been nabbed in the operation since last week.
He says the 34-year-old constable faces charges for the possession of ammunition and providing ammunition illegally to a person.
“He is due to make a court appearance in Strand (today).”
On Friday, two sergeants appeared in the same court on charges of corruption, following their arrest on Wednesday in Strand.
Roger Thomas, 37, also faces charges relating to his illegal possession of two firearms that were not registered in his name.
After his arrest in his office, police took Davids Davids, 39, to his home, where they confiscated two plates that form part of police bulletproof vests.
Both appeared before magistrate Karen Scheepers, who released them on R5 000 bail, and warned them to appear in court again on October 20.
