Cobras end losing streak


Cape Cobras finally got good report after they beat the Warriors by five wickets at Newlands.

The Cape Cobras snapped their two-match losing run with a high-scoring draw against the Warriors in their
Sunfoil Series clash.

Paul Adams’ senior batsmen finally came good this time around on a flat Newlands track as both teams posted scores in excess of 500.

Openers Omphile Ramela (170) and Andrew Puttick (128) led the way in the Cape side’s reply to the visitors’ 525/7 declared, which was built on Colin Ackermann’s 146.

Young allrounder Jason Smith starred again with the bat in the middle order.

He scored 63 off 99 balls as Aviwe Mgijima (51) also got a half century down the order.

Spinner Dane Piedt showed what he can do with the willow, scoring an unbeaten 45 as the Cobras reached 567/7 as the game ended in a draw with both teams completing one innings.
