Cape Town City will have to be better than they were against Mamelodi Sundowns to beat Bloem Celtic tonight (7.30pm).
PSL new boys beat the newly-crowned champions of Africa on Sunday with a perfect 2-1 counterattacking win.
But skipper Lebogang Manyama, who was their two-goal hero on the day, says his manne have to step it up for this test at Cape Town Stadium.
Manyama says it’s easier for his troops to get up for the big names, proven again when the City Boys beat Kaizer Chiefs 1-0 in the MTN8 at the start of the season.
He warns his team: “You know when you play Sundowns, Chiefs, Pirates, SuperSport, Wits, you know those teams you don’t need motivation.
“You know that you are up against some of the best teams in the country and Africa.
“It’s the games like Celtic where you need the motivation.
“It’s kind of hard to concentrate on those games.
“We have to make sure we step it up more than we did against Sundowns, because it’s going to be tricky.”
After beating Downs, though, Manyama is wary that his team could themselves with a target on their backs. But they need to start focusing on results.
He says: “When you beat the best team in Africa, then people start taking you seriously. It’s not an achievement. We needed to get the points.”
