The Cape Town performers continue to shine bright in SA’s Got Talent and took the first places in the finals of the reality show.
The first round of semifinals was held on Sunday where Phoenix (Bernadette Adams), 45, from Manenberg sang Something Inside So Strong and got the most public votes.
“I was so shocked, I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry,” says the mother of three who also admitted on camera that she had spent time in jail.
Her story tugged at the heartstrings of viewers and has made her a firm favourite for the R500 000 prize money.
Bienjamien Samsodien writes on Facebook: “She deserve 2b in the final because (of) everything she went through, she can b a role model to everyone, viva 4 Manenberg!”
Another Cape Town act, The Professionals, also danced their way into the finals after the judges decided they deserved a shot at the top prize.
Dressed in brightly coloured suits and ties, the three pantsula dancers from Langa showed off all their moves in a perfectly choreographed performance.
Fan Melezwa Precious MaNtombela Mtimde says on Facebook: “They sure did their thing yesterday (Sunday). Well done.”
On Sunday coming, another Kaap favourite performs.
Singer Derek Plaatjies from Saron (now living in Muizenberg) got the first golden buzzer of the show, so he will have to prove it was not a fluke.
SA’s Got Talent is on e.tv every Sunday at 6.05pm and the results show is at 7.30pm.
