Springbok flanker Schalk Burger has been ruled out of the Test series against Ireland next month because of an ankle injury.
At 33, it’s tough to see Burger still playing at the next World Cup, but Stormers coach Robbie Fleck believes the loose-forward still has the drive to play in the Green and Gold.
Ahead of the Saturday’s clash against the Cheetahs at Newlands tomorrow (3pm), Fleck explains: “I think he’s always got those Springbok ambitions.
“The injury is a blow, [but] obviously between him and Allister [Coetzee] they probably had discussions about the next couple of weeks.
“Knowing the guy, he will want to play for the Springboks until he dies.”
Centre Juan de Jongh, meanwhile, misses as second match in a row after being ruled out with a back injury.
But the complaint will not effect his availability for Bok selection.
