The Stormers have a point to prove when they host the Cheetahs at Newlands on Saturday.
After the Bulls raided their lineouts in the defeat at Loftus last weekend, the man at the heart of the jump contest, Bongi Mbonambi, is convinced they will bounce back against the visitors from Bloemfontein.
Mbonambi, a former Bulls man, has eclipsed Scarra Ntubeni as the No.1 hooker at the Stormers this year and has been making a strong case for inclusion in the national team as well.
Last weekend, though, is not one of the matches he would have liked to have on his CV as national boss Allister Coetzee is set to name his first Springbok squad this weekend.
Of the tussle at Loftus, Mbonambi says: “The Bulls did their homework l. We went through the video and fixed the mistakes and looking forward to the weekend.”
Mbonambi knows exactly what is expected of him if he wants to wear the Green and Gold and explains: “Coach Allister [Coetzee, who was in the Stormers camp on Monday] made it quite simple: he is looking to throw the net out wide.
“[He gave us insight into] the type of player he is looking for – [and you need to] look at yourself and look at what the coach is looking for and say ‘I need to work on that…’”
