Now this is one die-hard Stormers fan!
This meisie loves her favourite rugby team, the Stormers, so much she took them with her to her matric ball.
Andrea May glammed up the popular blue and white rugby jersey with dozens of ruffles, high heels and a tiara, and she behoorlik turned the heads of her Kylemore High School friends when she turned up at her ball last Wednesday.
A picture of the teen in her unique dress was shared on Facebook, where it caught the attention of the DHL Stormers, who have since contacted Andrea.
The 18-year-old resident of Kylemore, just outside Stellenbosch, says she got the idea for her kwaai dress last year.
“When my friend and I were talking about it last year, it was just a joke, but then I told my uncle about it and he said not to worry about it, he would take care of it,” she explains.
“I told my friends at school that I would be wearing something very unique and everyone was shocked when they saw it, they all liked it.
“My uncle bought the jersey and had this other lady make it into the dress, I was very happy with what I saw and couldn’t believe it turned out so well.”
The avid Stormers fan has never been able to travel the 60 kilometrers from her home to Newlands stadium to watch her favourite team play.
“I’ve never been out to watch any of their games live. It’s made me a little sad but on Thursday night I got a call to say I will be getting tickets to go next year,” an excited Andrea says.
“This was the best news ever, I hope to meet some of the players — my favourite one is [Juan] de Jongh.”
Spokesperson for the DHL Stormers, Michael de Vries, says fans even emailed them pictures of Andrea’s dress.
“After noticing her on social media we tracked her down and we are sending her four complimentary tickets to our first game of the season next year against the Blue Bulls as well as a stadium tour,” he says.
“We are also hoping to record a video message with all her favourite players [soon].”
