Coach Allister Coetzee says his new-look Springbok team is ready for their first Test.
Coetzee has only been able to work with his squad for two weeks to get them ready for his maiden game as Bok boss against Ireland at Newlands tomorrow (5pm).
But the former Stormers boss believes they have prepared well enough for a new Bok rugby year to start with a bang.
He says: “We’ve worked extremely hard these past two weeks to become a team and to make sure we cover all the necessary areas so we can face the Irish.”
Coetzee named Lions scrumhalf Faf de Klerk as the only uncapped player in the starting XV.
And he included five players in the match-23 who did not feature at the Rugby World Cup last year – Lions quintet Elton Jantjies, Warren Whiteley, Julian Redelinghuys and Lionel Mapoe.
The boss adds: “I am excited about the composition of the team and the players selected are rewarded for their consistently good performances in Super Rugby.”
