Hollywood stars are coming to town, and you can go check them out on Saturday.
The Miss Hollywood Look-A-Like pageant takes place at Sea Point Civic, and stars like “Adele and Katy Perry” will be there.
The drag pageant is being revived after 19 years; the last Miss Hollywood Look-A-Like was Savannah Crystal Smith.
Savannah modelled herself on The Bold and The Beautiful actress Hunter Tylo, who plays Dr Taylor Hayes on the soapie.
She says: “The time has come to crown a new queen. After 19 years we’re bringing back the title. This time it’s bigger and better than before, with a mission to help bridge the gap of homophobia.”
Pageant Director Farouk Thompson yesterday advised the 18 drag artists to choose their famous lookalikes carefully, focusing on the star’s most recognisable feature.
“It’s not like your normal pageant, the winner will be the artist that looks the most like the personality that she chose,” he says.
The girls have already bagged their big names – Zahara O’Nhira is Adele, Sasha Le Strange is Katy Perry, Nazhene Engelbrecht is Whitney Houston and Dayana Quinton Geyer Lima is ready to dazzle as Sophia Loren, to name a few.
The show includes performances by 3D, Anastacia Khan and singer Thorne Thompson.
Thomspon says: “The winner will get a cash prize of R5 000 and the total prize package is worth R35 000.”
Tickets cost R150 and are available at the door.
