Ajax versus Kings

BELIEF: Ajax Cape Town skipper Travis Graham

Team on a mission to beat Sundowns in the Mother City.

Ajax Cape Town skipper Travis Graham has called on his players to upset Mamelodi Sundowns.

The sides meet tomorrow night at Cape Town Stadium (7.30pm).

The Urban Warriors have won just one game all season – their last PSL game finally ending a nine-game wait for a victory.

And when Graham leads his manne out against the newly-crowned kings of Africa, he reckons they can shock Pitso Mosimane’s PSL champions.

The midfielder tells AjaxCT.com: “Next up is a match against Mamelodi Sundowns, they are the Kings of Africa so obviously this will be a very difficult game.

“We will give them the respect they deserve, being one of the top teams in South Africa.

“But it is still yet another game – we must do our own thing and with us playing at home, in the Mother City, we must take advantage and use the advantage to the fullest.”

That 3-2 win at Platinum Stars has given Ajax the boost they need to start believing again.

And Graham adds that the team are starting to play by new coach Stanley Menzo’s ideas.

He says: “It was the perfect win for us, we have been working really hard and finally we got the three points we wanted.

“We know that we are not out of trouble yet, but we are highly motivated – especially by the win – to keep working hard, to keep doing what we are doing and to continue moving up the log.

“Tasting victory once more is really encouraging and we have been given a real boost by the result.”
