GONE: Singer Colonel Abrams

DJ Tony broke the news of his death on Facebook.

He was once a chart-topping star, but Colonel Abrams died a homeless man.

The American singer died at the age of 67 last Thursday.

The star, whose 1985 hit Trapped reached number three in the UK, had been living on the mean streets of New York.

His death was announced on Facebook by DJ Tony “Tune” Herbert, who said: “Just got word that Colonel Abrams has passed away on Thanksgiving, one year to the date that I and a host of his biggest fans fought to get him to let us help him.

“Now he is at peace and our condolences go out to his family, and fans worldwide, he is no longer suffering or Trapped!!!”

Colonel Abrams – his real name – continued to feature on the US dance and R&B charts into the mid-1990s but was destitute in recent years.
