In just one week, cops have arrested 725 suspects for various crimes across the Cape Flats after a massive clampdown ahead of the upcoming festive season.
This was after police carried out stop and searches, roadblocks and raids across Mitchells Plain, Athlone, Lavender Hill, Hanover Park and Grassy Park since last week.
A total of 252 suspects were arrested for cases relating to the possession of drugs and dealing in drugs after tik, heroin, mandrax and dagga were confiscated at 184 houses, while 10 firearms were found.
The drugs have a street value of R24 240.
Cops also searched illegal liquor outlets and arrested two suspects, and confiscated a total of 59 910 litres of liquor.
At a series of roadblocks, a total of 65 motorists were arrested.
Nine suspects were arrested for crimes against women and children, and 12 people were busted for the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
Among the firearms found was a zip gun.
Three suspects wanted for murders and attempted murders which occurred in the Mitchells Plain area were also arrested.
A total of 88 suspects were also arrested for warrants of arrests for various crimes.
