Springbok coach Allister Coetzee will name his squad for the first two matches of the Rugby Championship after the Super Rugby final next week.
But for now, Coetzee has called on 18 to attend a four-day fundamentals, rehabilitation and conditioning camp in Stellenbosch this week.
Overseas players as well as those from the Lions were not considered for the camp, which serves to assess the medical and fitness condition of the selected group of players.
While some players, such as Handre Pollard, has been ruled out for the year, it will give Coetzee an opportunity to work and spend some time with these players.
The Bok coach explains: “We will use the four days to spend some time on our fundamentals, continued rehabilitation and conditioning of this group of players.
“Our management will be working hard during these four days and it will give us a good indication of the progress of those players who have recovered from injury, or those currently battling with niggles.”
Apart from those not considered and the recently injured Siya Kolisi, JP Pietersen, Willie le Roux and Bongi Mbonambi are the only three players missing from the third Test squad against Ireland.
Squad: Damian de Allende, Lood de Jager, Pieter-Steph du Toit, Eben Etzebeth, Vincent Koch, Jesse Kriel, Pat Lambie, Frans Malherbe, Oupa Mohoje, Tendai Mtawarira, Lwazi Mvovo, Sikhumbuzo Notshe, Trevor Nyakane, Coenie Oosthuizen, Rudy Paige, Handre Pollard, Jan Serfontein, Adriaan Strauss.
